A plan for challenging mask ventilation and tracheal intubation should be made. Airway adjuvants, including nasal and oropharyngeal airways, an intubating laryngeal mask airway, a fiberoptic bronchoscope, and a videolaryngoscope should be in the operating room and prepared for use.
