• Meningococcal polysaccharide/diphtheria toxoid vaccine has been reported to cause Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). It is contraindicated in individuals with a history of GBS
• The vial stopper is made of dry natural rubber latex, which may result in allergic reactions in patients sensitive to latex
• Review of vaccination history of patients for vaccine related hypersensitivity or adverse events is recommended prior to administration. Keep epinephrine and other necessary medications readily available for treatment of possible acute anaphylactic reactions
• A diminished immune response to the vaccine may be observed in immunocompromised patients or those on immunosuppressant therapy
• Vaccine may not provide protection to all recipients

Breastfeeding: According to the CDC and other health organizations, meningococcal vaccine given to a nursing mother does not affect the safety of breastfeeding for mothers or breastfed infants. Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to meningococcal vaccine.
