- Prior to initiating therapy carefully evaluate risk and benefit ratio as smoking causes lung disease, cancer and heart disease, and may adversely affect pregnant women or the fetus
- Sustained use of therapy beyond 6 months is not recommended and should be discouraged
- Irritation to the nasal mucosa may occur following topical application of therapy
- Therapy can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Therefore the patient should be apprised of the potential hazard to the fetus
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets
- Discontinue therapy if clinically significant increase in cardiovascular or other adverse effects occur
- It may cause bronchospasm therefore should be used with caution in patients with bronchospastic disease

- Therapy should be used with caution in patients with active peptic ulcers because nicotine delays healing in peptic ulcer disease
- Therapy constitutes a risk factor for development of malignant hypertension in patients with accelerated hypertension. therefore therapy should be used with caution in these patients
