Incr in older women, h/o multiple births, obesity, chronic cough

Sx:Urinary, stooling, mass presence

Si:Stage 3 is below hymenal ring; stage 4 is complete prolapse

Rx:

• Watchful waiting/Kegels exercises
• Pessary: Rings for stages 2 and 3, Gelhorn or cube for stage 4
• Surgery: Various types (Nejm 2006;354:1557); outcomes in elderly (>70 yr) as good as in younger pts (Jags 2007;55:857)
