Adult Dosing
Allergic rhinitis
- 60 mg PO bid; Alt: 180 mg PO qd
Chronic idiopathic urticaria
- 60 mg PO bid; Alt: 180 mg PO qd
- Note: Give ODT on an empty stomach, do not give with fruit juice
Hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies
Allegra allergy 12 hours
- 60 mg PO bid
- Max: 120 mg/24 hrs
Allegra hives 24 hours
- 180 mg PO bid
- Max: 180 mg/24 hrs
- Patients >65 yrs and those with renal impairment: Consult doctor
Notes:
- Do not consume aluminum or magnesium antacids at the same time
- Do not take with fruit juices
Pediatric Dosing
Allergic rhinitis
- 2-11 yrs: 30 mg SUSP PO bid
- 6-11 yrs: 30 mg PO bid
- >11 yrs: 60 mg PO bid; Alt: 180 mg PO qd

Pregnancy Category:C
Breastfeeding: Fexofenadine is excreted in breastmilk in low levels. Due to its lack of sedation, it would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. Fexofenadine might suppress lactation, especially if used in combination with a sympathomimetic agent such as pseudoephedrine.
