Answer

Answer: A."Polycythemia is a condition with excessive numbers of blood cells. It can impair circulation due to increased blood viscosity. Phlebotomy is the standard treatment. Myelosuppressive agents may also be used, although phlebotomy would be performed first. IV fluids would help dilute the blood, but wouldn’t improve the problem with too much blood volume and blood transfusions would not be indicated. When a question asks for the priority intervention, odds are there is more than one appropriate intervention. Your job as a nurse is to determine which intervention would provide the most benefit for the patient."
