• 200 mg PO tid

Azo-Standard, Uristat (95 mg)

• 2 tabs PO tid PRN; Max: 6 tabs/day

Azo Standard Maximum Strength (97.5 mg)

• 2 tabs PO tid PRN; Max: 6 tabs/day

Uricalm (99.5 mg)

• 2 tabs PO tid PRN; Max: 6 tabs/day

• Administer after meals to avoid GI irritation
• Should not exceed 2 days when used concomitantly with an antibiotic

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the product
• Renal impairment
• Glomerulonephritis

Renal Dose Adjustment

• Renal impairment: Contraindicated
• Mild renal impairment GFR >5 ml/min increase dose internal to every 8-16 hrs

Hepatic Dose Adjustment

• Discontinue the drug if there is yellowish tinge of the skin or sclera, as yellow tinge indicates accumulation due to impaired renal excretion
• Interferes with urinalysis based on spectrometry or color reactions
• Staining of contact lenses has been reported with phenazopyridine therapy

• Inform patients that phenazopyridine causes reddish-orange discoloration of the urine and may stain fabric

Pregnancy Category:B

Breastfeeding: The safety of phenazopyridine is not established in infants or during breastfeeding. Avoid while breastfeeding, especially with an infant under 1 month of age or with G-6-PD deficiency, as it can cause methemoglobinemia, sulfhemoglobinemia, and hemolytic anemia.
