Breastfeeding: Vaccines given to a nursing mother do not affect the safety of breastfeeding for mothers or infants as stated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Maternal vaccination with human papillomavirus vaccine is not a contraindication to breastfeeding. This data is based upon LactMed database (available at http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT last accessed 11 Jan 2011). As per manufacturer data, excretion of vaccine induced antibodies in human milk has not been studied. As many drugs are excreted in human milk manufacturer advises caution when administering to a nursing woman.
