Esophagus injury-trauma grading
Esophageal injuries are graded I-V with increasing severity having higher grading.
Grade I 
- Esophageal contusion or hematoma
- Esophageal partial thickness laceration
Grade II 
- Esophageal laceration <50% of the circumference
Grade III 
- Esophageal laceration >50% of the circumference
Grade IV 
- Esophageal injury with either segmental tissue loss or devascularization of <2 cm
Grade V 
- Esophageal injury with either segmental tissue loss or devascularization of >2 cm
Note to advance one grade for multiple injuries up to grade III.
