• Regional enteritis
• Ulcerative colitis
• History of antibiotic associated colitis

• Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea which may vary in severity from mild to fatal colitis, has been reported with use of all antibiotics; discontinue therapy on occurrence of significant diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, colitis and pseudomembranous colitis
• Avoid exposure to sunlight, including sunlamps during use of gel
• Weather extremes, such as wind or cold may irritate the patients

Cautions: Use cautiously in:

• Considerable sun exposure due to occupation
• Sensitivity to the sun
• Sunburn

Supplemental Patient Information

• Advise patients with sunburn to avoid use of the product until fully recovered because of heightened susceptibility to sunlight
• Encourage the daily use of sunscreen products and proper apparel (hat) in patients

Pregnancy Category:C

Breastfeeding: Safety unknown; clindamycin can cause adverse effects on the breastfed infant's gastrointestinal flora. Monitor infants for diarrhea, candidiasis or colitis. Literature on the use of topical tretinoin during breastfeeding is unavailable. Due to poor absorption on topical application considered as a low risk to the nursing infant. Ensure that the infant's skin does not come into direct contact with the treated areas of skin. Apply only water-miscible cream products to the breast because ointments may expose the infant to high levels of mineral paraffins via licking. Unknown whether clindamycin/tretinoin is excreted in human milk on topical application. Oral and parenteral uses of clindamycin have been reported to appear in breast milk. Exhibits potential for causing serious adverse reactions in nursing infants. Manufacturer advises caution and discontinue nursing or drug taking into account the importance of drug to the mother
