50 yrs
- Administer 0.5 mL dose IM x1
Active immunization against Streptococcus pneumoniae
Vaccine schedule for infants and toddlers
- Dose 1: Administer 0.5 mL IM at 2 months of age which may be given as early as 6 wks of age; recommended dosing interval is 4-8 wks
- Dose 2: Administer 0.5 mL IM at 4 months of age with a dosing interval of 4-8 wks
- Dose 3: Administer 0.5 mL IM at 6 months of age with a dosing interval of 4-8 wks
- Dose 4: Administer 0.5 mL IM at 12-15 months of age and at least 2 months interval after the third dose
Vaccine schedule for un-vaccinated children 7 months through 5 yrs of age
- 7-11 months: Administer three 0.5 mL doses IM; administer the first 2 doses at least 4 wks apart and the third dose after the 1-yr birthday, separated from the second dose by at least 2 months
- 12-23 months: Administer two 0.5 mL doses IM, at least 2 months apart
- 24 months-5 yrs: Administer one 0.5 mL dose IM prior to the 6th birthday
Pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine schedule for children previously vaccinated with pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine
- Children previously vaccinated with >1 doses of pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine may complete the immunization series with pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine
- Children 15 months through 5 yrs of age who are completely immunized with pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine may receive 1 dose of pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine to elicit immune responses to the 6 additional serotypes. This supplemental dose of pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine should be given with an interval of at least 8 wks after the final dose of pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine
Vaccination schedule for children 6 - 17 yrs of Age
- Administer 0.5 mL dose IM x1 and if pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine has been administered previously then pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine should be given with an interval of at least 8 wks
- Inject IM into the anterolateral aspect of the thigh in infants and the deltoid muscle of the upper arm in toddlers and young children
- Do not inject in the gluteal area or areas where there may be a major nerve trunk and/or blood vessel
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients <6 wks and >6 yrs of age have not been established
