• Symptomatic management of cough associated with respiratory tract infection, helps to loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions
• Temporary relief of nasal congestion due to common cold, hay fever, or upper respiratory allergies

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the product
• Concomitant use of monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or within 14 days of its use
• Severe hypertension
• Coronary artery disease
• Urinary retention

• Patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland should consult physician before taking this drug
• Do not use therapy if persistent or chronic cough such as cough occurring with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema, or for cough accompanied by excessive phlegm
• Therapy may cause can cause nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness. Discontinue the drug if such symptoms occur
• Discontinue the drug if symptoms do not improve within 7 days or occur with a fever, rash, or persistent headache
• Keep out of reach of children
• If swallowed accidentally, seek medical attention or contact a Poison Control Center immediately

Pregnancy Category:C

Breastfeeding: Guaifenesin: No studies have been conducted on the excretion of guaifenesin in breastmilk or its effect on breastfed infants. As it is given to infants as young as 2 months of age, it is unlikely that usual maternal doses in milk are as large as those given directly to infants and would harm the breastfed infants especially in infants over 2 months of age. Avoid the use of products with high alcohol content while nursing. Pseudoephedrine: Small amount of pseudoephedrine is excreted in breastmilk and are unlikely to harm the nursing infant, occasionally causes irritability. A single dose of pseudoephedrine decreases milk production acutely and repeated use interferes with lactation. Mothers of newborns or who are having difficulties producing sufficient milk should not receive pseudoephedrine. Guaifenesin

• Expectorant; acts as an irritant to gastric vagal receptors, and recruits efferent parasympathetic reflexes, causing less viscous mucus mixture. Provokes cough, thus facilitating removal of viscous mucus and making nonproductive coughs more productive and less frequent
• Rapidly absorbed from GI tract
• Metabolized by hydrolysis
• Renally excreted mainly as metabolite
• Half-life: 1 hour

Pseudoephedrine

• Nasal decongestant; acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in the mucosa of the respiratory tract, causing vasoconstriction and by stimulating beta2-adrenergic receptors relaxes bronchial smooth muscle
• Metabolized by liver
• Renally excreted (55-75% unchanged)
• Half-life: 9-16 hours (depends on urine pH)
