Complications

30% mortality with bacteremia

Lab and Xray

Lab:Bact:Culture, coagulase-negative staph. r/o Staph. saprophyticus, also a pathogen at least in urinary tract

Treatment

Rx:>60% are methicillin-resistant; 1st vancomycin, but some resistance (Nejm 1987;316:927); rifampin; gentamicin
