Pathophys:Small bowel heat stable toxin; only toxin that does not stick to bowel wall

Epidemiology

Very common; most common form of food poisoning

Signs and Symptoms

Sx:Incubation period 2-8 h

Si:No fever, no fecal leukocytes, nausea and vomiting often worse than diarrhea

Lab and Xray

Lab:None indicated

Treatment

Rx: Rehydration and supportive care
