Improving Blood Flow

Increasing the blood supply to the heart of a patient who has had a MI can help prevent further damage to his or her heart. In addition to medications, blood flow to the heart can be improved by:

  • intra-aortic balloon pump
  • percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty
  • atherectomy
  • laser treatment
  • stent placement
  • coronary artery bypass graft
