Transfusion-associated circulatory overload (TACO) is a form of pulmonary edema caused by excessive volume or too rapid infusion, especially in patients with compromised cardiac or pulmonary function. Symptoms of TACO include coughing, cyanosis, orthopnea, difficulty breathing, and a rapid increase in systolic blood pressure. TACO is a common reaction that is potentially life-threatening.
