Placental alpha magroglobin-1 (PAMG-1) test is an immunoassay test performed to detect trace amounts of PAMP-1 protein in vaginal fluid to detect ruptured fetal membranes. Point of care testing can be accomplished for PAMG-1 using the AmniSure® assay test. The advantages of this test include that it is not affected by semen or trace amounts of blood. Sensitivity is 94.4%98.9%; specificity, 87.5%100%. This test is used to confirm fern or Nitrazine testing.
A negative test for amniotic fluid shows one visible line after 510 minutes.
A positive test for amniotic fluid shows two visible lines after 510 minutes.
No visible line is an invalid result.
Insert a sterile swab into the vagina for 1 minute.
Place the swab into a vial that contains a solvent for 1 minute.
Insert an AmniSure test strip into the vial.
