Clinical Scoring in Suspected Acute Aortic Syndrome

Aortic dissection is likely if there are 2 of:
  • Instantanous onset chest or back pain
  • One high-risk condition from:
    • A congenital predisposition (Marfan, Ehlers-Danlos, Turner's or Loeys-Dietz syndromes)
    • Pregnancy
    • Aortic valve disease or
    • Dilated aorta or
    • Recent cardiac surgery or cardiac catheterization
    • Family history of dissection or sudden premature death
  • One high-risk sign from:
