Some Atypical Presentations of Stroke

| Localized language area | Mobile aphasic patient often initially diagnosed as delirium/dementia |
| Bilateral thalamic infarction | Confusion |
| Pons | Locked in syndrome |
| Cortical lesions | Focal seizures |
| Basal ganglia | Abnormal movements, for example asterixis, hemifacial spasms |
| Visual cortex | Isolated visual symptoms, for example Anton's syndrome, Balint's syndrome |
| Frontal or posterolateral parietal lobe | Alien hand syndrome |
