• Prior to prescribing the drug, evaluate for kidney disease. Do not use in patients on magnesium-restricted diet
• Avoid use of concomitant prescription drug as antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs
• Discontinue therapy and consult a clinician if symptoms persist for more than 14 days
• Seek medical assistance or contact a Poison Control Center immediately if accidental overdose occurs

Breastfeeding: No published information is available on use of aluminum hydroxide, antacid therapy in nursing mothers. Additional intake of this mineral by a nursing mother is unlikely to surpass that found in other infant foods. Oral absorption of aluminum and magnesium is poor. Hence, antacid use during breastfeeding is acceptable and no special precautions are required.
