Pediculosis capitis (head lice)

• Apply enough lotion to dry hair to completely saturate the scalp and hair; leave on for 10 mins and then thoroughly rinse off with water. Repeat this treatment after 7 days
• Dosing recommendations:
• Hair length (0-2 inches): 4-6 oz per application
• Hair length (2-4 inches): 6-8 oz per application
• Hair length (4-8 inches): 8-12 oz per application
• Hair length (8-16 inches): 12-24 oz per application
• Hair length (16-22 inches): 24-32 oz per application
• Hair length (>22 inches): 32-48 oz per application

Note:

• Avoid contact with eyes

• Benzyl alcohol lotion should be used on children 6 months of age and older under the direct supervision of an adult
• Product may cause allergic or irritant dermatitis
• Therapy may cause eye irritation; consult a clinician if irritation persists
• Avoid exposure to the eyes; flush the eyes immediately with water if accidental exposure occurs
• Neonatal gasping syndrome has been reported in preterm, low birth weight infants receiving IV administration of products containing benzyl alcohol. Neonates could be at risk for gasping syndrome if treated with benzyl alcohol lotion

Supplemental Patient Information

• Advise patients to use this product only on scalp and scalp hair as directed by their physician
• Inform patients that benzyl alcohol lotion may cause eye irritation, skin irritation, and contact sensitization
• Instruct patients to promptly contact their physician if the area of the application shows signs of irritation and any signs of adverse reactions
