- 1 glassful (approximately 150-300 ml) PO once, may repeat PRN

- Child 6-12 yrs: 0.5 mL/kg, 50-100 mL, repeat q4-6 hours if necessary

- Several doses of therapy may develop magnesium poisoning in infants and children. Therefore caution should be exercised
- Avoid use in patients with renal dysfunction. Hypermagnesemia and toxicity may occur due to decreased clearance of magnesium ion
- Events of fluid and electrolyte imbalances, steatorrhea, osteomalacia and vitamin and mineral deficiencies have been reported with chronic use of laxatives leading to laxative dependency
- Rectal bleeding or failure to respond may indicate serious condition requiring further attention
- Significant fluid and electrolyte imbalance may occur due to excessive laxative use
