Absorption and Dispersion of Injected Drugs
- Add 50-300 units (most typically 150 units) to the injection solution
Note: Consult appropriate references on physical or chemical incompatibilities
Subcutaneous fluid administration
- Add 150 units to facilitate absorption of 1,000 mL or more of solution
Subcutaneous urography
- 75 units SC over each scapula followed by injection of the contrast medium at the same sites
Pediatric Dosing

[Outline]
- Because of the danger of spreading a localized infection hyaluronidase should not be injected into or around an infected or acutely inflamed area. Avoid using for reducing the swelling of bites or stings
- Avoid applying directly to the cornea. Not for topical use
- As the enzyme is rapidly inactivated hyaluronidase should not be used intravenously
- Use not recommended to enhance the absorption and dispersion of dopamine and/or alpha agonist drugs
- Therapy is incompatible with furosemide, benzodiazepines and phenytoin
- Consult appropriate references to determine the usual precautions for the use of the other drug with hyaluronidase
