Adult Dosing
Absorption and Dispersion of Injected Drugs
- Add 50-300 units (Most typically 150 units) to the injection soln
- Consult appropriate references regarding physical or chemical incompatibilities before adding to a solution containing another drug
Hypodermoclysis
- Add 200 units to facilitate 1,000 mL or more of soln
Subcutaneous Urography
- 75 units SC followed by injection of the contrast medium at the same sites

Premature infants/neonates
- Add hyaluronidase to small vol. of soln (Up to 200 mL)
- Max: 25 mL/kg/day; rate of administration <2mL/min
Infants and children <3 yrs
- Add hyaluronidase to small vol. of soln (Up to 200 mL)
- Max: Use 200 mL for single clysis

- Discontinue therapy if sensitization occurs
- Use not recommended to enhance the absorption and dispersion of dopamine and/or alpha agonist drugs
- Because of the danger of spreading a localized infection hyaluronidase should not be injected into or around an infected or acutely inflamed area
- Use not recommended to reduce the swelling of bites or stings
- Do not apply directly to the cornea
- As the enzyme is rapidly inactivated hyaluronidase should not be used for intravenous injections
- Therapy is incompatible with furosemide, benzodiazepines and phenytoin
- Consult appropriate references to determine the usual precautions for the use of the other drug with hyaluronidase
