• Brinzolamide ophthalmic suspension has adverse reactions that are attributable to sulfonamides. Sever reaction may include Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, fulminant hepatic necrosis, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, and blood dyscrasias
• Irrespective of the route of administration, sensitization may re-occur when a sulfonamide is re-administered

Supplemental Patient Information

• Advise patient to discontinue use of brinzolamide if ocular and systemic reactions, or signs of hypersensitivity occur
• Advise patients to contact their physician about continued use of the present multidose container if they have ocular surgery or develop a concurrent ocular condition

• Carbonic anhydrase inhibitor; decrease aqueous humor secretion by slowing the concentration of bicarbonate ions which results in a reduction of intraoccular pressure
