• Rare reports of neutropenia and agranulocytosis have been reported when patient taking for long periods of therapy
• Periodic assessment of organ system functions, including hematopoietic and hepatic, is advisable during prolonged therapy
• Mebendazole tablet may be chewed, swallowed, or crushed and mixed with food
• Not effective in hydatid disease

Supplemental Patient Information

• Advise patient the potential risk to the fetus in women taking mebendazole during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester
• Advise patient about the important of cleanliness to prevent reinfection and transmission of the infection

Breastfeeding: Limited data indicate that mebendazole is poorly excreted in breast milk; it is unlikely to adversely affect the breastfed infant.
