Breastfeeding: Safety unknown; due to minimal systemic absorption of clindamycin, it would be not expected to adversely affect the breastfed infant. Topical application to the nipple may cause diarrhea in the infant. According to the manufacturer data it is not known whether this topical gel is secreted into human milk after topical application. Due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, manufacturer recommends discontinuation of nursing or discontinuation of drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
