Breastfeeding: Unlikely to affect breastfed infants or milk production owing to its low milk levels and lack of sedation. When used in combination with a sympathomimetic agent such as pseudoephedrine, it may produce a negative effect on lactation. The British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology recommends loratadine at its lowest dose as a preferred choice if an antihistamine is required during lactation. This information is based upon LactMed database (available at http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT last accessed 14 April 2011). Manufacturer recommends caution when administered to a nursing woman.
