Adult Dosing
Acute otitis media
- Instill in the ear(s), allowing the solution to run along the wall of the ear canal until it is filled, moisten a cotton pledget with the solution and insert into meatus
- Repeat q1-2 hrs, until pain and congestion are relieved
Removal of cerumen
- Instill in the ear(s) tid x 2-3 days to help remove cerumen from the wall of the ear canal
- Use PRN after cerumen removal for drying out the ear canal or relieving discomfort
- Following instillation, insert a cotton pledget moistened with the solution into the meatus before and after cerumen removal
Note: Avoid direct contact of dropper tip with the ear

- Instruct patients to promptly discontinue therapy if sensitization or irritation occurs
- Advise patients to avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface including ears in order to avoid contamination

- Advise patients to avoid contaminating the dropper with material from the ear, fingers, or other source
- Advise patients to avoid rinsing the dropper after use
- Instruct patients to discard this product 6 months after dropper is first placed in the drug solution

Breastfeeding: Antipyrine is not expected to harm the breastfed infant as it is unlikely to be systemically absorbed by the mother and reach breastmilk. Also, topical benzocaine is unlikely to affect the breastfed infant when used at sites other than breasts.
