• Instill 1-2 gtt in eye(s) before procedure

• Not to be used for injection, its for topical ophthalmic use only
• Prolonged use can produce permanent corneal opacification with vision loss and may also delay the wound healing
• Protect the eye from irritating chemicals and foreign bodies during anesthesia
• Occasional temporary stinging, burning and conjunctival redness may occur with the use of proparacaine
• Although rare but systemic toxicity manifested by CNS stimulation followed by depression may occur
• Avoid prolonged use
• To prevent contamination, do not touch the dropper tip to any surface. Keep the container tightly closed
• Tonometers soaked in sterilizing/detergent solutions should be thoroughly rinsed with sterile distilled water prior to use
• Advise patients to avoid touching the eye until the anesthesia has worn off

• Hyperthyroidism
• Cholinesterase deficiency
