Adult Dosing
Foreign body removal/suture removal/tonometry
- Instill 1-2 gtt in eye(s) before procedure
Removal of sutures
- Instill 1-2 gtt in eye(s) 2-3 mins before the procedure
Short corneal and conjunctival procedures
- Instill 1 gtt in eye(s) q5-10 mins for 5-7 doses

- Not to be used for injection, its for topical ophthalmic use only
- Prolonged use can produce permanent corneal opacification with vision loss and may also delay the wound healing
- Protect the eye from irritating chemicals and foreign bodies during anesthesia
- Occasional temporary stinging, burning and conjunctival redness may occur with the use of proparacaine
- Although rare but systemic toxicity manifested by CNS stimulation followed by depression may occur
- Avoid prolonged use
- To prevent contamination, do not touch the dropper tip to any surface. Keep the container tightly closed
- Tonometers soaked in sterilizing/detergent solutions should be thoroughly rinsed with sterile distilled water prior to use
- Advise patients to avoid touching the eye until the anesthesia has worn off

- Cholinesterase deficiency
