Adult Dosing
Diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency
- 0.25 mg IV over a 4-8 hr period
Notes:- Monitor cortisol levels at baseline, then 30 min after administration of dose or at the end of infusion
- Inspect visually for presence of particulate matter and discoloration
Pediatric Dosing
Diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency
- <2 yrs: 0.125 mg IV over 4-8 hrs
- >2 yrs: 0.25 mg IV over 4-8 hrs

- Exhibits slight immunologic activity. Patients sensitized to natural ACTH with markedly positive skin tests might react negatively when tested intradermally with the injection
- Therapy is not completely devoid of immunologic activity and hypersensitivity reactions including rare occasions of anaphylaxis. Prior to injection, be prepared to treat any possible acute hypersensitivity reaction
