Adult Dosing
Fungal keratitis
- Initial dose: 1 gtt instilled in the conjunctival sac q1-2 hrs x 3-4 days
- Followed by 1 gtt q3-4 hrs, may reduce the dose gradually q4-7 day to assure that the replicating organism has been eliminated
- Continue for 14-21 days or until resolution
Fungal blepharitis and conjunctivitis
- 1 gtt in the affect eye(s) q4-6 hrs

- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established

- Infection may be caused by a microorganism not susceptible to natamycin, if there is no improvement of keratitis following 7-10 days of administration of the drug
- Based on clinical re-evaluation and laboratory studies, continue the therapy
- Natamycin drops causes adherence of the suspension to areas of epithelial ulceration or retention of the suspension in the fornices
- Advise patients not to wear contact lenses if they have signs and symptoms of fungal blepharitis, conjunctivitis, and keratitis
Supplemental Patient Information
- To prevent contamination, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including the eye. Keep the container tightly closed
