- Latanoprost may cause increased pigmentation of the iris, periorbital tissue, and eyelashes; and growth of eyelashes. On discontinuation of therapy, all the reactions are reversible except pigmentation of the iris which is likely to be permanent
- Color of the eye changes due to increased melanin content in the stromal melanocytes of the iris rather than increase in the number of melanocytes; brown pigmentation around the pupil spreads concentrically towards periphery of the iris and entire or parts of iris become more brownish
- Changes in length, thickness, pigmentation, the number of lashes or hairs, and misdirected growth of eyelashes and vellus hair have occurred in the treated eye. These changes are reversible upon discontinuation of treatment
- Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of intraocular inflammation and should not be used in patients with active intraocular inflammation

- Bacterial keratitis have been reported with the use of multiple-dose containers of topical ophthalmic products
- Remove the contact lenses prior to administration, can be reinserted 15 minutes after administration

To substantially diminish the amount of drug reaching the breast milk after using eye drops, place pressure over the tear duct by the corner of the eye for 1 minute or more and remove the excess solution with an absorbent tissue.
