Adult Dosing
Chronic open-angle glaucoma
Initial therapy
- 1 gtt in the eye(s) q12 hrs
Switching to dipivefrin from other antiglaucoma agents except epinephrine
- On day 1,continue previous drug and add 1 gtt dipivefrin in the eye(s) q12 hrs. On following day, discontinue other drug and continue with dipivefrin
Switching to dipivefrin from epinephrine
- Discontinue epinephrine and initiate dipivefrin regimen
Additional dipivefrin therapy
- Add 1 gtt in the eye(s) q12 hrs to existing antiglaucoma therapy
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established

- Macular edema has been reported in up to 30% of aphakic patients receiving dipivefrin. Reversal of the maculopathy is expected to occur with discontinuation of therapy
Supplemental Patient Information
- Instruct patients to avoid touching the tip of container to the eye, eyelid, or any surface to avoid contamination
Pregnancy Category:B
Breastfeeding: It is unknown whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Manufacturer advises caution while administering to nursing women.
