Moderate-severe rheumatoid arthritis

• 100 mg SC q24 hrs

Cryopyrin-Associated Periodic Syndromes (CAPS)

• 1-2 mg/kg SC qd or in divided doses bid; Max: 8 mg/kg
• Adjust doses in 0.5 - 1.0 mg/kg increments

• Reduction in signs and symptoms and slowing the progression of structural damage in moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis, in adults who have failed 1 or more disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs)
• Note: To be used as monotherapy or in combination with other DMARDs except TNF blocking agents
• Treatment of Neonatal-Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease (NOMID)

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the product
• Hypersensitivity to E.coli derived proteins
• Serious infections
• Active infections
• Concurrent live vaccination

• Therapy with anakinra may cause serious infections. Discontinue therapy if patient develops serious infection
• Avoid initiation of therapy in patients with active infections
• The safety and effectiveness of anakinra has not been established in immunosuppressed patients or in patients with chronic infections
• Patients receiving the drug may experience a decrease in neutrophil counts; counts should be assessed prior to initiating treatment, while receiving treatment, qmo for 3 months, and thereafter quarterly for 1 year
• Suspend therapy if a severe hypersensitivity reaction occurs and institute appropriate therapy
• Since anakinra interferes with normal immune response mechanisms to new antigens, live vaccines should not be given concurrently with anakinra
• Extreme caution has to be exercised with concurrent use of TNF blocking agents such as etanercept

Supplemental Patient Information

• Inform patients and their caregivers that the needle cover on the prefilled syringe contains dry natural rubber (a derivative of latex) which should not be handled by persons sensitive to latex
