• Use only single dose to treat single episode of acute cystitis. Obtain urine specimens for culture and susceptibility testing before and after completion of therapy
• CDAD associated diarrhea may occur in patients treated with fosfomycin; which generally ends when the antibiotic is discontinued
• Fosfomycin should be mixed with water before ingesting

Breastfeeding: Safety Unknown; as many drugs are excreted in human milk and because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
