Breastfeeding: According to the CDC and other health organizations, M-M-R-V live vaccine given to a nursing mother does not affect the safety of breastfeeding for mothers or breastfed infants. Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to measles, mumps, rubella and varicella virus vaccine. Breastfed infants should be vaccinated according to the routine recommended schedules. Although rubella vaccine virus might be excreted into milk, the virus usually does not infect the infant. This information is based upon LactMed database (available at http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT last accessed 27 July 2011). Manufacturer advises caution while administering to a nursing woman.
