Uncomplicated spider veins and reticular veins
Asclera
- For spider veins (varicose veins
1 mm in diameter): Use 0.5% solution - Reticular veins (varicose veins 1 to 3 mm in diameter), Use 1% solution
- Administer 0.1-0.3 mL IV for into each varicose vein; not to exceed cumulative dose of 10 mL per treatment session
Incompetent great saphenous veins, accessory saphenous veins, and visible varicosities
Varithena
- Use up to 5 mL per IV. Max: 15 mL/session, using ultrasound guidance
- Repeat treatment may be necessary if the size and extent of the veins to be treated require more than 15 mL of therapy; separate treatment sessions by a minimum of 5 days
Note:
- Solution strength and injection volume depend on size and extent of the varicose veins; extensive varicosities may require multiple treatment sessions
- IV use only, do not inject intra-arterially or intra-perivascularly
- Refer to the package insert for administration procedure
