• Patient with G6PD deficiency; using this therapy has reported laboratory changes of mild hemolysis. Discontinue the therapy if signs and symptoms suggestive of hemolytic anemia occurs
• Avoid using therapy in patients who are taking oral dapsone or antimalarial medications as it may increase the potential for hemolytic reactions
• Dapsone gel in combination with trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole may increase the liability of hemolysis in patients with G6PD deficiency

Breastfeeding: Dapsone can be used during breastfeeding; hemolytic anemia might occur, especially in newborn infants and those with G-6-PD deficiency. Use of dapsone in the treatment of leprosy is advantageous as it kills the organisms in breastmilk. Monitor the infant for signs of hemolysis, especially in newborn or premature breastfed infants.
