- Toxic shock syndrome manifested as fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, dizziness, faintness or sunburn like rash on face or body has been reported in some cases, though rare can be fatal causing death. Remove the sponge if any of these symptoms develops and provide appropriate treatment
- Can cause severe allergic reactions or irritation to both the partners. Discontinue the use if there is burning, itching, rash or other irritation of the vagina or penis or difficulty in urination
- Inform patients that this product does not protect against HIV infection (AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases
- Frequent use (more than once a day) can increase vaginal irritation
- Irritation of vagina and rectum can lead to the increase risk of getting HIV or other STDs from infected person

- Recent miscarriage or abortion
- Vaginal septum
- Uterine prolapse

- Advise patient not to keep it for more than 30 hrs
