• Treatment of invasive fungal infections in patients who are refractory to or intolerant of conventional amphotericin B therapy

• Therapy may cause anaphylactic reactions. Discontinue therapy and institute appropriate treatment if such reactions occur
• Immediately discontinue infusion if severe respiratory distress occurs
• Acute infusion-related reactions such as fever and chills may occur 1-2 hrs after starting an IV infusion. Appropriately manage these reactions using NSAIDs, antihistamines, or corticosteroids and/or by reducing the rate of infusion
• During the initial therapy, the drug should be administered under close clinical observation by medically trained personnel
• Monitor serum creatinine, liver function, serum electrolytes, and CBC regularly during therapy

Breastfeeding: Safety unknown. Amphotericin B is highly protein bound, has a large molecular weight, and is virtually unabsorbed orally. It is considered acceptable to use in nursing mothers. As per manufacturer's data, due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in breastfed infants, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, analyzing the importance of the drug to the mother.

• CV: Orthostatic hypotension, heart arrest, hypertension, chest pain, ventricular arrhythmias, asystole
• GI: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, hepatic impairment
