Adjunct therapy for treatment of advanced prostate cancer

• 50 mg PO daily in combination with a LHRH analog at the same time each day

• Treatment of stage D2 metastatic carcinoma of the prostate in conjunction with luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analogs

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the product
• Female population
• Pregnancy

• N/A

Renal Dose Adjustment

• Renal impairment: No dose adjustments

Hepatic Dose Adjustment

• Moderate to severe impairment: Use with caution; monitor LFTs in long-term therapy

• Hypersensitivity reactions including angioedema and urticaria
• Death or hospitalization due to hepatic failure and hepatotoxicity within the first three to four months of treatment has occurred in patients receiving bicalutamide
• Evaluate serum transaminase levels before therapy, then regularly for the first four months of treatment, and periodically thereafter. Discontinue the treatment if patient develops jaundice or if ALT rises above 2 times the ULN
• Serum transaminases, in particular the serum ALT, should be measured if signs and symptoms of liver dysfunction such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, anorexia, flu-like symptoms, dark urine, jaundice, or right upper quadrant tenderness occurs
• Reduction in glucose tolerance reported in males receiving LHRH agonists, consider monitoring of blood glucose in such patients
• Monitor prostate specific antigen to determine patient's response to therapy and evaluate for clinical progression if levels raises

• CNS: Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, insomnia, syncope

• PSYCHIATRY: Anxiety, depression
• GI: Abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, increased liver enzyme test, dyspepsia, flatulence, anorexia, vomiting, hepatotoxicity
• GU: Pelvic pain, nocturia, hematuria, urinary tract infection, gynecomastia, impotence, breast pain, urinary frequency, urinary retention, urinary impaired, urinary incontinence
• RESP: Increased cough , bronchitis, pneumonia, rhinitis, asthma, interstitial pneumonitis, pulmonary fibrosis
• METABOLIC: Weight Loss, hyperglycemia, increased alkaline phosphatase, weight gain
• DERM: Rash, sweating, angioneurotic edema
• MUSC: Back Pain, bone pain, myasthenia, arthritis, pathological fracture
• HEMA: Anemia, sepsis, hematuria
• EENT: Pharyngitis
• MISC: Pain, infection, flu syndrome

• Antiandrogens; competitively blocks the action of androgens at the cytosol androgen receptors
• Metabolized by liver; CYP450: 3A4 inhibitor
• Elimination in urine and feces
• Half-Life: 5.8 days
