- Greater than 4 years: 0.5 mL NEB q3-4h
Note: Children under 4 years of age: Consult a doctor
Croup [Non-FDA Approved]
- Using 2.25% solution, 0.05 mL/kg/dose up to a maximum dose of 0.5 mL/dose diluted to 3 mL with 0.9% saline. Given via nebulizer over 15 min PRN but not more frequently than q1-2 hr
- It is important to note that nebulized epinephrine may need to be administered significantly more frequently than the recommended intervals in severe/critical cases

- Monitor patient's respiratory status during each treatment. If bronchospasm worsens during a treatment, discontinue the treatment
- Administer drug with caution as syncope has occurred in asthmatic children
- Do not use when maternal BP exceeds 130/80 mm Hg because it may delay second stage or induce uterine atony
- During therapy tissue necrosis may develop if extravasation occurs
- Therapy may cause fatalities because of peripheral constriction or cardiac stimulation
- Excessive use may lead to tolerance and paradoxical bronchospasm
Cautions: Use cautiously in
- Cardiac disease (angina, tachycardia, MI)
- Hypertension
- Hyperthyroidism
- Diabetes
- Cerebral arteriosclerosis
- Elderly patients
