Acute herpetic keratitis

• 1 gtt in the affected eye q3 hrs while awake (approx 5x/day) until corneal ulcer heals, followed by 1 gtt tid x 7 days

• Instruct patients to avoid touching the tip of container to the eye, eyelid, or any surface to avoid contamination
• Instruct patients to seek medical attention if pain develops, or if redness, itching, or inflammation worsens
• Instruct patients to avoid use of contact lenses during therapy

Breastfeeding: It is unknown whether ophthalmic administration of ganciclovir would cause adequate systemic absorption to be detected in human milk. Manufacturer advises caution when administering to nursing women.
