• Persons known to have experienced Guillain-Barré syndrome within 6 wk after a previous influenza vaccination should not receive influenza virus vaccine, unless the benefit outweighs the risk
• Close monitoring and appropriate medical treatment should be considered to manage possible anaphylactic reactions following administration of the vaccine
• The immune response may get diminished if administered to immunocompromised individuals, including persons receiving immunosuppressive therapy

Breastfeeding: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that vaccines given to a nursing mother does not affect breastfed infants and breastfeeding is not a contraindication to influenza vaccine.
