- Advise patients to immediately consult a clinician if they experience severe or persistent sore throat or sore throat accompanied or followed by high fever, headache, rash, nausea and vomiting
- Avoid using this combination drug for >2 days and avoid administration in children <3 yrs of age unless directed by a doctor
- Instruct patients to discontinue therapy and contact a clinician if symptoms related to sore mouth do not improve within 1 wk or if cough lasts >7 days, comes back, or occurs with fever, rash or persistent headache
Cautions: Use cautiously in
- Chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma, or emphysema
- Cough with too much phlegm
Supplemental Patient Information
- Instruct patients to avoid storing the medication at high temperature
- Instruct patients to inform their clinician if they are pregnant or breast feeding
- Advise patients to keep the medication out of reach of children
- Advise patients to seek medical help or contact a Poison Control Center, in case of medication overdose
