Adult Dosing
Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS) and Narcolepsy
Shift Work Sleep Disorder
- 150 mg PO qd approximately 1 hour prior to the start of work shift
- Note: Safety and effectiveness in individuals < 65 years of age have not been established
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and effectiveness in individuals < 17 years of age have not been established

- Should be used only after diagnosis of sleep disorders in patients
- Serious rash requiring hospitalization and discontinuation of treatment has been reported in adults in association with the use of armodafinil. Discontinue if rash appears (unless clearly not drug-related), or if angioedema, anaphylaxis, or multi-organ hypersensitivity reaction occurs
- Drugs that are largely eliminated via CYP2C19 metabolism, such as diazepam, propranolol, and phenytoin may have prolonged elimination upon coadministration with armodafinil and may require dosage reduction and monitoring for toxicity
- Effectiveness of steroidal contraceptives may be reduced when used with concurrent administration and also for one month after discontinuation of therapy. Alternative or concomitant methods of contraception are recommended
- Patients should be cautioned about operating an automobile or other hazardous machinery until they are reasonably certain that therapy will not adversely affect their ability to engage in such activities

- Severe renal and hepatic impairment
- Concurrent alcohol ingestion
- History of psychosis, depression, or mania
- History of Mitral valve disease and/or Left ventricular hypertrophy
- Recent MI or unstable angina
- History of drug abuse, especially history of stimulant abuse
- Elderly patients
Pregnancy Category:C
Breastfeeding: Safety unknown. It is not known whether armodafinil or its metabolites are excreted in human milk. According to manufacturer, caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman. Armodafinil should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
