Adult Dosing
Ocular inflammation and pain with ocular surgery
- Instill 1 gtt in into the conjunctival sac of the affected eyes qid x 2 wks; then 1 gtt bid x 1 wk
- Note: Start therapy after 24 hrs after surgery. Taper dose based on the response
Endogenous anterior uveitis
- Instill 1 gtt in into the conjunctival sac of the affected eyes qid for 14 days. Taper dose based on the response

- Glaucoma with damage to the optic nerve, defects in visual acuity and fields of vision have occurred on long term use of corticosteroids. Monitor intraocular pressure on considering use of this product for
10 days - Posterior subcapsular cataract has occurred on use of corticosteroids
- Delayed healing with increase in incidence of bleb formation has occurred on use of steroids after cataract surgery
- Perforations have occurred on using this drug in presence of diseases causing thinning of the cornea or sclera, Examine patient with the aid of magnification such as slit lamp biomicroscopy and where appropriate with fluorescein staining on considering initial prescription and renewal of the medication order beyond 28 days
- Long term use is associated with suppression of the host response and increase in the hazard of secondary ocular infections. Masking of infection or enhancement of existing infection has occurred in acute purulent conditions. Re-evaluate patients if signs and symptoms fail to improve after 2 days
- Exercise caution while considering treatment in patients with a history of herpes simplex requires great. Use of ocular steroids is associated with prolongation of the course and exacerbation of the severity of many viral infections of the eye (including herpes simplex)
- Long-term local steroid application is associated with development of fungal infections of the cornea. Consider fungus invasion in any persistent corneal ulceration where a steroid has been used or is in use. When appropriate take fungal culture
- For topical ophthalmic use only. Not indicated for intraocular administration
Cautions: Use cautiously in:
- History of ocular viral infection
- Glaucoma
Supplemental Patient Information
- Advise patients to avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, as this may contaminate the emulsion
- Advise patient to consult a physician on occurrence of pain or redness, itching, or aggravation of inflammation
- Advise patients to avoid wearing contact lenses when using this drug
