• Ergotamine (Cafergot)
• Methysergide (Sansert)

PRECIPITANT DRUGS

Triptans:

• Almotriptan (Axert)
• Eletriptan (Relpax)
• Frovatriptan (Frova)
• Naratriptan (Amerge)
• Rizatriptan (Maxalt, etc.)
• Sumatriptan (Imitrex, etc.)
• Zolmitriptan (Zolmig, etc.)

Comment:

Theoretically, concurrent use of ergot alkaloids and triptans may result in excessive vasoconstriction. The manufactures of triptans state that concurrent use with ergot preparations is contraindicated.

Class 1: Avoid Combination

• Avoid: Avoid use of triptans within 24 hours of ergot alkaloids.
