• To prevent contamination, do not touch the dropper tip to any surface
• Compress lacrimal sac by digital pressure for 2-3 mins to avoid excessive absorption
• Long term use may cause local irritation, follicular conjunctivitis, vascular congestion and eczematoid dermatitis
• Somnolence, dryness of mouth or visual hallucinations may occur

Supplemental Patient Information

• Caution patients about engaging in activities requiring mental alertness like driving a motor vehicle or operating dangerous machinery as drowsiness, disorientation and confusion may occur
• Instruct patients to protect eyes from bright light

Breastfeeding: Safety unknown; information is unavailable on the use of scopolamine during breastfeeding. Prolong use of drug results in reduction of milk production or milk letdown. A single systemic or ophthalmic dose is unlikely to interfere with breastfeeding. On prolong use observe for signs of decreased lactation such as insatiety and poor weight gain. • CNS: Acute toxic psychosis, seizures, hallucinations, confusion, anticholinergic toxicity, behavioral disturbances
• EENT: Angle-closure glaucoma, increased IOP, ocular burning, photophobia, blurred vision, ocular irritation, eyelid edema, conjunctivitis
• CV: Tachycardia, hypotension, hyperemia
• RESP: Respiratory depression
• GI: Abdominal distension

• Anticholinergic; antagonizes acetylcholine receptors; competitively inhibits postganglionic muscarinic receptor sites of the parasympathetic nervous system and smooth muscles responding to acetylcholine
